Now this is good news for the city's 1,100 active participants, "it gives them a comfort level to know that the return of investment that they give when they make contributions is well managed and that they have a lifetime benefit if they stay here and retire," said Phil Roberson the Chairman Board of Pension trustees.

ALBANY, GA -- So far, 2013 has been a good year for the Albany Board of Pension Trustees.

The city has $107 million dollars in the pension fund with a return rate of 5.5%.

The city's goal is an 8.5% return over the entire year which they're well on their way to surpassing.

Now this is good news for the city's 1,100 active participants, "it gives them a comfort level to know that the return of investment that they give when they make contributions is well managed and that they have a lifetime benefit if they stay here and retire," said Phil Roberson the Chairman Board of Pension trustees.

Roberson credits an active board of trustees and smart aggressive investments to the recent success.
