ALBANY, GA --
Mayor Dorothy Hubbard spoke during the Dougherty County Kiwanis Club Monday afternoon.

Albany's first female mayor briefed the crowd with updates on her cleanup initiative and her "Mayor's Call to Service".

She talked about how the city's appearance affects economic development. Hubbard drew applause from the crowd after mentioning the deconstruction of the dilapidated
Heritage House.

She says in order for others to believe our city is ready for progress we must first believe that we are.

“In order for us to get the kind of jobs here that we need, we're going to have to be positive about our city,” said Dorothy Hubbard, Albany Mayor.

Hubbard also addressed the issue of crime within the southwest Georgia community. She stated "There has been four crime forums over the last year."
