ALBANY, GA --
During a lecture Friday night Albany State University students learned about the profitability of Slavery in America.

Dr. Nancy Dawson spoke on the "Basis of the Enslavement."

She's focused on how slavery was deemed profitable, practical, and justifiable for some.

Dawson even brought up the history of slavery in southwest Georgia by revealing newspaper clippings of Negros for sale and rewards for those who ran away.

“It was just interesting for me to see and understand some of the things that I didn't know about,” said Sterling Hunter, Albany State University Student.

Students say the lecture was powerful and insightful.
