Albany Recreation and Parks and Liz Dennis from the Georgia Association of Blind Athletes joined forces Saturday morning to teach others about a game called “Goalball.”

Goalball is a team sport designed for visually impaired and blind athletes. The object of the game is to throw or roll the ball down the court and get it past the opposing team.

Amanda Dennis, a visually impaired athlete, who also plays for the U.S. Paralympics Team, said it’s important to have sports where everyone can participate. Dennis said growing up she felt left out because she wasn’t allowed to participate in sports at school but once she found out about goalball, her life completely changed.
