DAWSON --
Second Harvest Food Bank of Albany partnered with the Terrell County Resource Center to offer free food to residents in need on Saturday.

Any resident in need was able to show up to the center and receive one case of soda or three two-liter bottles, one case of soup starters, three bread items and a dessert of choice.

Terrell County Resource Center director Dorothy Tomlin says Second Harvest did a study and designated Terrell County as an area of need and the giveaway is just the first of what they hope to be many food drives.

Tomlin estimates around 300 families came in to the center and were very appreciative of the items that can make a big difference.
