ALBANY, GA --
The American Cancer Society held their 6th Annual HOPE Gala of Dougherty County this weekend.

The Gala was held to raise money to help the fight against cancer, and proceeds from the event went to the American Cancer Society.

Cancer survivor David Campbell was the honoree at the event. Campbell said having the support of his family, friends, and community is what kept him going through his battle with cancer, and now it's time for him to pay it forward.

Campbell added that going through that experience gave him a new appreciation for life, and made him realize how important it is to raise awareness of cancer, because it affects almost everyone in some way or another.
