VIENNA, GA --
According to fire investigators with the Georgia Insurance and Fire Commissioner's office, a fatal fire Sunday afternoon in Crisp County has been ruled accidental.

Officials say that the afternoon fire killed 38-year-old Todd Mercer at his home on Andrew Street.

"Investigators have determined that unattended cooking was the cause of the fire," said Commissioner Ralph Hudgens in the release. "Mercer was transported to Crisp County Hospital were he later died of smoke inhalation."
