AMERICUS, GA -- The Kiwanis Club of Americus held a 5K run this weekend to raise money for the community, and give families something fun to do with their weekend.

Officials with the run say these events are easy to put on, and can make a difference in the community.

Event coordinator, Charlene Pennymon, says it's fun and does a lot of good in the end.

"I think it makes it a good thing to have, it's great exercise, awesome stress reliever, and it's something the whole family can take part in and enjoy," said Pennymon.

And not only is Pennymon doing big things in Americus, but she has also qualified for the Boston Marathon, which she will be running later this year.
