Telecommunications Engineering Technology student Aamir Greene has been selected as the 2013 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership winner for Albany Technical College.

Initial Story
Albany Technical College will hold the annual awards banquet for nominees selected for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) and the Rick Perkins Award (Instructor of the Year) for this calendar year this Thursday evening, January 24, 2013, at 6pm in the Kirkland Conference Center on the Albany Tech campus.

The 10 nominees for GOAL include: Michelle Campbell (Computer Information Systems); Michael Carroll (Firefighter/EMSP); Brooke Geissler (Design and Media Production Technology); Aamir Greene (Telecommunications Engineering Technology); Emily Kratschman (Design and Media Production Technology); Nature Malone (Business Logistics Management); Cayla Osteen (Dental Assisting); Kierria Slaughter (Early Childhood Care and  Education); Valerie Watson (Early Childhood Care and Education); and Stephanie Zakrzewski (Business Logistics Management).

The final four GOAL nominees include: Michael Carroll (Firefighter/EMSP); Brooke Geissler (Design and Media Production Technology); Aamir Greene (Telecommunications Engineering Technology); and Cayla Osteen  Dental Assisting). These four will be interviewed on January 29th by an Albany Area Chamber of Commerce panel and one will be selected and announced on January 31st to compete at the State GOAL competition to be held April 24-26 in Atlanta. The state winner is the official spokesperson for technical education in Georgia for 2012. The Albany Tech winner will also have an opportunity to compete at the Regional Competition for GOAL, which will be held for the South Region Georgia consortium on February 28, 2013, at Moultrie Technical College’s satellite campus in Tifton.

The Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year nominees include: Mark Crawford (Plumbing Technology); Chase Mumford (Electromechnical Engineering Technology); Robert Permenter (Industrial Systems Technology); Frederia Sampson (General Studies); Kenneth Singleton (Law Enforcement Technology); and Kaven Williams (Telecommunications Engineering Technology).

All nominees will be honored at the banquet Thursday evening and Perkins winner will be presented. The final GOAL winner will be presented on January 31st.
