ALBANY, GA -- Civil Rights pioneer, UGA alumni, and CNN correspondent Charlayne Hunter-Gault will headline Albany State University's program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr on January 17th.

Hunter-Gault was on the front lines of the action when Georgia desegregated public schools through a court order as she was one of two African American students admitted into the University of Georgia in 1961 after a two-year struggle.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation is scheduled for 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, January 17th, in the ASU Student Center Ballroom located on campus.
