ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County Library Board of Trustees held met on Tuesday evening to go over two possible contracts for future renovations to the central branch on Pine Avenue.

The board previously held an open bidding process and narrowed the selection down to two companies but says they asked for more information before the meeting to make sure they choose the best plan.

"We're just trying to make the right decision because we have our taxpayer's money and we want to use it wisely and that's really why we're taking our time doing it,” said board member Walter Kelley.

During the meeting, the board welcomed new member Albany City Commissioner John Hayes before they carefully reviewed the two contracts with their attorney in an effort to get one step closing to beginning construction.

Kelley hopes the renovations will begin within 60 days and will take around nine months using money from SPLOST IV funds to complete.
