ALBANY, GA --
The 2013 Albany Fire Department and Rescue Calendar has officially gone into effect and it's affecting many of those in need in Albany.

Around 550 copies of the calendar, organized by Donald Jackson of Station #6, have been sold making it possible to donate $1,000 to The Salvation Army's A Place 4 Hope.

Major Kelly English says the donation, made on December 24th, has enabled them to purchase vital supplies necessary for running the program, like washing detergent, socks and toiletries.

They may not sound like much but Kelly says these are the type of items that can change a person's life that comes through A Place 4 Hope.

Jackson says he and his team are proud to help and the morale around the station has been boosted thanks to the calendar.

Copies are still being sold at the front office of the fire stations on Meredyth Road and Jackson Street for $10.

Thanks to the success, Jackson is already trying to put together plans for a 2014 calendar.
