ALBANY, GA --
Local businesses around Albany could be seeing a financial lift as tax season approaches.

Officials with the United States Small Business Administration are reporting that due to the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, small businesses are being given several opportunities to lower those tax numbers.

The new law extends the research and experimentation tax credit, which allows businesses to deduct the cost of certain new and used property placed in service for the year, and allows businesses a tax credit for hiring military veterans or those that come from undeserved communities, and have faced barriers to gain employment.
