Latest news, weather and high school sports for Albany and Southwest Georgia

During Thursday's Albany Hospitality Committee meeting members discussed bringing the Dixie Softball National Board meeting here to southwest Georgia.

The softball meeting will be held in 2013. The softball competition is not scheduled to be held in Albany.

Albany hosts the Dixie Baseball National Board meeting and baseball competition.

Hospitality board members also went over the recent increase in the city's hotel/motel tax. The tax is set at 8 cents.

The Hospitality Committee has worked throughout the year to promote tourism and officials say they will continue to do so throughout 2013.
