ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Boys and Girls Club on Inverness Drive is sending care packages to troops stationed overseas for Christmas.

Marines from the Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany will be picking up the items.

Over 35 packages are prepared to go overseas to US troops.

The packages includes toiletry items and snacks. With each gift, soldiers will receive a Christmas card written by a child.

11-year-old Princeton Qualls, President of the Torch Club, is presenting the items to the Marine Corps. The Torch Club is a junior leadership club that teaches youngsters how to be volunteers in the community and junior boys and girls club staff members.

“We want to let them know that we are thinking about them, praying for them and hoping for their return. We want to make sure that we remain in contact with them so we're going to do some pen pal type activities with them as well,” said Michael Nelson, Boys and Girls Club Unit Director.
