ALBANY, GA -- The Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission met today to discuss "Spec Buildings."

A "Spec Building" is designed to lure potential businesses to the Albany area and expand the growing business landscape downtown.

Officials with the commission say they had toyed with the idea of a virtual "spec home," however, officials in Atlanta weren't as excited about the idea.

Their answer was, if you have a virtual "spec" building, we'll bring you virtual clients. So that was a pretty straight forward answer, which lead us to believe we need to build a real "spec" building," said Chairman, Jay Smith.

The commission also reviewed the 2012 calendar year, saying it was successful but are looking for bigger projects in 2013.
