Workshop helps farmers save money

ALBANY, GA --

Thursday morning, local Farmers got some help filing for their Georgia Agriculture Tax Exemption (GATE) Card.

The GATE program, allows farmers to purchase their agriculture needs, such as equipment, trucks, feed, and seed, tax free.

The
Southwest Georgia Project, provided a free workshop to help farms sign up for this tax exemption,
 "We really try to help facilitate our local farmers, for those who many not be familiar with a computer, and us going to a more corporate model, we're trying to help facilitate these farmers along," said Project Coordinator,  Paula Rogers.

To apply for the GATE program visit, www.agr.georgia.gov, or call the Southwest Georgia Project Inc. and (229)430-9870, for more information.
