ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Recreation and Parks Department is gearing up to those with mental health issues have a better Christmas again this year.
For over 50 years, cities across Georgia have brought the joy of the holidays to the patients at Georgia's regional mental health hospitals through the annual "
Mayors' Christmas Motorcade
."
The City of Albany will collect gifts for the residents of Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, from November 19th through December 11th. Gifts are for adult patients and need to be new and unwrapped.
Possible ideas for donations include: personal care products, table games, art supplies, movies, snacks, and casual clothing.
Items can dropped off at the following sites:
- The Recreation & Parks office at 1301 N. Monroe;
- The Mayor's Office at 222 Pine, Suite 580 (Government Center);
- Thronateeska Heritage Center at 100 W. Roosevelt; and the
- Albany Department of Engineering office at 240 Pine, Suite 200 (Central Square building).
