ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County Board of Commissioners discussed the future of interim Dougherty County Police Chief Cynthia Battle at their meeting on Monday.

Discussion ranged from the length of interim status to the possibility of combining the Dougherty County Police Department and the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office.

Although most commissioners appeared to be against the combining of the two agencies, several members of the board were curious about Chief Battle's status and what duties she is involved in as of now.

With a six-month interim period, Chief Battle is expected to perform all the duties of the former Chief.

Battle has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, and commissioners appeared confident in her abilities.
