ALBANY, GA --
Students at Sherwood Acres Elementary School participated in a mock General Election Friday morning.

Poll workers volunteered their time to make the process as real as possible for the students, who have been learning about the democracy in social studies.

The school hopes the students will develop habits that will continue into adulthood.

"We are giving the student an opportunity to participate in voting because it' a civic duty, and if we start early, teaching them now, when they become adults it's natural," said Sherwood Acres Assistant Principal,
 Dr. Christine Ford.

Sherwood Acres will learn the outcome of their election on Monday, and they hope it shows the student's that every vote counts.
