LEE COUNTY, GA. --

People living in the southern part of Lee County will no longer have to travel to Leesburg to visit the library.

Tuesday night a reception was held for the grand opening of the Oakland Library and Conference Center on Highway 82.

The state of the art library comes with private study rooms, a coffee shop and a conference center that can be used for weddings or other functions.

Although the library and conference center has opened, officials say they'll be no changes for the library branch in Leesburg.

“It's not going to make any difference for the city because we're keeping our branch open up there. It's fully functional and we've been keeping it up to date,” says Eddie Hinman, Chairman of the Lee County Library Board.

He says the new library was built to serve 20 to 30 percent of the Lee County population.
