ALBANY, GA --

Some people that are looking to add that extra touch to their Halloween costumes may turn to decorative contact lens.

In the Facebook story of the day you wanted to know if these lenses, that can add different colors, patterns, and designs to your eyes are safe.

According to Optometrist, Dr Willis Hendley, they are safe, provided you obtain a prescription and get them from a authorized dealer.

"Unauthorized utilization of contact lenses can result in damage to the eye, ocular surface damage, including microbial keratitis, corneal opacity, and other infections which can in the worse case scenario lead to vision lose and in some cases blindness", explained Hendely.

Hendley also said that if you use these decorative lenses, to discard them after one use, and not to save them for next Halloween.
