MITCHELL COUNTY, GA. --

Southwest Georgia Ethanol has temporarily stopped production at its ethanol facility in Mitchell County.

This decision came as a result of bad market conditions which spawn from the drought in the mid-west.  The poor mid-west harvest led to an increase in corn prices.

“We’re still shipping but we've already stopped. We're going to be purchasing local corn for farmers to plant and deliver here for 2013,” says Murry Campbell, President of Southwest Georgia Ethanol.

Campbell expects predicts ethanol production will start for sure by the next corn harvest.
