ALBANY, GA --

Albany State University continued their homecoming festivities Saturday morning with their annual parade through downtown Albany.

Spectators lined Pine Ave to watch around 100 groups march the parade route.

Various marching bands performed for the crowd, and even the FOX 31 crew was out participating.

Organizers estimate the crowd size to be no less than 15,000, and with such an influx of people, local shops are saying they're feeling a positive impact.

“Every homecoming a lot of people are in town, alumni are back in town to help celebrate Albany State homecoming, and just like the other merchants we all benefit from it”, said Errol Heart with Expressation L.L.C.

Erika Jones the owner of Shynes Beauty Salon, say's business has almost doubled this weekend, “We appreciate everyone coming out, supporting us, and coming out to our shop realizing you know, the community needs their dollars to help it keep going.”

Other events planned for Saturday was the homecoming football game which the Golden Rams won, a step show, and an alumni victory dance.
