ALBANY, GA. --
Breast cancer survivors and supporters sat down for tea and crumpets this Friday afternoon.

Mitchell and Baker County Health Departments hosted a 'Pink Tea' in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The tea brought together close to 20 women who've been affected by breast cancer.

Organizers say during the month of October people focus mostly on awareness but forget about actual survivors.

This was a chance to celebrate their life.

"People need to be aware that it is important to get yearly mammograms and to do your monthly exams on yourself," says Kathy Majors, organizer of the event.

During the tea the group painted tea pots to leave around the city as reminders of those who've survived breast cancer.
