ALBANY, GA. --

Albany State University's homecoming celebration is in full swing.

Vendors have set up on campus and down Oglethorpe Boulevard.

There are food vendors for the hungry and many booths set up for shopping.

The ASU carnival kicked off Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. and will continue until midnight.

Those with campus police say they are expecting thousands of alumni and friends to participate in this weekend's events and they've set up a contingency plan to control the crowds.

“What we've done is just upgraded our security. We have security from other agencies that have come in to help us. We're just making sure there is police presence in the high populated areas,” says Major Cadedria Hill, ASU Police.

Albany State's homecoming game is Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
