ALBANY, GA. --
The downtown Albany business community will gather Friday morning to pray for one of their own.

Homer Holiday, the owner of the Union Dry Cleaners, has been ill for a few weeks and is now hospitalized in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Holiday has operated his business on North Jackson Street for many years.

Those organizing the event say Mr. Holiday was known to clean clothes for homeless people for free.

“Mr. Holiday would also press and clean clothes for children in the school system who did not have clothes. He wanted the clothes cleaned and pressed so that the children would think they were new,” says Marlean Edwards, Dougherty County Commissioner.

Edwards says Homer Holiday has given back to the community and now they are coming together in his honor.

The vigil will be held in front of the Union Dry Cleaners at 8:30 a.m.
