ALBANY, GA --
With Halloween three weeks away, pumpkin sales are in full swing.

Local farmers are saying despite this summer’s drought, the pumpkin crop is pretty good this year.

Similar to farms across the Midwest the actual size of the pumpkins also seems to be bigger.

"Sometimes it's hard to pin point why, sometimes varieties that get big sometimes don't get as big in certain years and bigger in other years, but yea they do tend to be a little bigger this year", said Mark Daniel, the owner of Mark's Melon Patch.

While Daniel can’t say for sure why the pumpkins seem to be bigger this year, he credits the overall success of the crop to irrigation, throughout the dry summer.
