ALBANY,GA --
Emergency nurses all over the world are getting a big pat on the back this week.

It's International Emergency Nurses Week and Phoebe Putney Memorial is saying thank you to their nurses with awards, special guest speakers and lots of cake!

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard also stopped by Wednesday to say a personal thank you. Her husband had to be rushed to the ER after he had an allergic reaction to medication and began swelling on the inside. Hubbard says she was impressed by how quickly and efficiently the nurses worked.

Emergency nurses see, on average, 55,000 patients a year and as many as 180 in one day.
