ALBANY --
150 people showed up Saturday afternoon for Albany's First Annual Buddy Walk at Sherwood Legacy Park to raise Down Syndrome Awareness.

Walkers completed a 1-mile walk around the track and enjoyed carnival games as a way to bring an event that's recognized nationally to Southwest Georgia.

"Whether it's a large or small city, there are still kids with Down Syndrome. There's still people born every day with Down Syndrome and I think that people tend to forget that in small towns,” said Buddy Walk organizer, Kayla Luckie, a mother of a 3-year-old with Down Syndrome.

All donations from the walk benefit the National Down Syndrome Society and organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout next year.
