ALBANY, GA --
The Colquitt County Health Department is offering an easy way for women and children to take advantage of Georgia WIC -- the state special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children.
Next Thursday, women who are pregnant, have children up to five years old and qualify based on household income are invited to the department to enroll in the program. WIC provides mothers and children with milk, eggs, cheese and other necessary food items to survive.
Southwest Health District Clinical Nutritionist Lindsay Bates says these items are extremely important for growing children and expectant mothers and this is a great way to take advantage of the program.
To qualify, those interested must have a current proof of ID for each person that will be on the program and proof of household income and address.
Once they qualify, mothers will get vouchers for the items that they can pick up on a need-be basis.
The event lasts from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Colquitt County Health Department building in Moultrie.
