ALBANY, GA --
Albany city engineers got the final approval to construct a relief sewer in Northwest Albany.

The design plans for the sewer will now be put out for bids from contractors.

Once complete the new sewer will provide additional sewage capacity which will allow for new development around the area.

"We have an existing sewer out there but the capacity is being used up so what we're doing now is providing that relief sewer, and we'll be able to promote additional development in that area", said Bruce Maples, Director of Engineering for Albany.

The sewer will run along Old Dawson road before heading north along a 25 acre tract of land.
