ALBANY, GA --
After a property closing this morning, the City of Albany is now the owner of the former Heritage House location.

The City of Albany closed on the property Friday morning at a cost of $1.152 million.

Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard was excited for the closing of the property and hopes it will help raise property values along with attracting new businesses.

"We all know that economic development depends on how clean you are, how you look and all those are factors that determine whether someone’s going to come in and invest you know 10, 15, 20 million(dollars)," said Hubbard.

Getting the building demolished was one of Hubbard's campaign promises, and she is happy she was able to keep that promise.
