ALBANY, GA --
The 14 Public Health Districts in Southwest Georgia received bug spray and larvicide briquettes thanks to a grant from The Friends of Southwest Georgia Public Health.

The $2,000 grant gave each district the essentials needed to raise awareness about the growing problem of West Nile Virus.

Environmental Health Specialist James Davis with the Dougherty County Health Department says although the donation was limited, anything helps to raise awareness and the department is grateful for it.

Davis says the department plans on using the 200 briquettes, 48 bottles of spray and information leaflets at places with high populations of at-risk residents, like nursing homes.
