ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree has been nominated for the 2012 Georgia School Superintendent's Association Superintendent of the Year award.

In a letter received by the FOX 31 from the Dougherty County School System, the Georgia School Superintendent's Association (GSSA) congratulated Murfree on his nomination. Murfree was one of 27 superintendents nominated from across the state.

However, he was not selected as a finalist for the award.

Superintendents Chris Erwin of Banks County schools, Thomas Lockamy of Savannah-Chatham County schools, Will Shofield of Hall County and Michelle Taylor of Calhoun City schools were the final four according to the GSSA website

All nominees will be recognized at a conference in October while the winner will be named at the GSSA Winter Conference.
