COLQUITT COUNTY,GA --
Two teenage girls died after their car struck a tree.

It happened in Colquitt County around 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Colquitt County Coroner, Verlyn Brock tells us 16-year-old Mary Holt Statom was driving the Hyundai Genesis with 16-year-old Madison Sumner in the passenger seat.

Brock says they were traveling on Old Berlin Road, a road they were unfamiliar with, when the road slightly curved to the left and the front tires appeared to have gone off the road and the car slid into a ditch, swinging them around and that's when the car hit a tree.

The two girls died on impact.
