ALBANY, GA -- Remains of a "Jane Doe" that passed away in 1985 have been exhumed in an attempt to find an identity.

Officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say that the white female, possibly in her later 20s, was exhumed Friday morning.

DNA samples were taken and sent to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta. Officials hope that by having her DNA on file, it will eventually reveal her identity.

The body was originally found alongside Highway 91 in Newton/Baker County, but the death was deemed accidental.
