ALBANY, GA -- The Rotary Club of Dougherty County welcomed Tammy Massengale, Assistant Director of the Governor's office of Consumer Protection.
Originally the club was expecting the Director, John Sours, to speak however Sours was held up in court. Massengale stepped in to inform The Rotary Club of Dougherty County about the dangers of fraud and how they better protect themselves against it.
"it's incredibly important, because most of the time, after something happens, after someone gets scammed, there's not a lot anybody can do about it. There are a lot of scams going on overseas that no one has jurisdiction over, so it's very hard to recover the money once it's gone," said Massengale.
Massengale also went on to share with the club the most important thing to prevent being scammed.
"Just be conscious about who and where you're sending money. If it looks to good to be true, then it probably is," said Massengale.
