ALBANY, GA --
The Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany held their annual POW/MIA recognition day breakfast Tuesday morning.

This year's guest of honor was Sergeant Edward L. DeMent, a WWII POW.

DeMent spoke about his time as a prisoner of war.

He was captured April 3, 1944 after he had to bail out of his B-24 gunner, as they began taking fire over Yugoslavia. He was released April 29, 1945.

DeMent's story really hit home with MCLB commander Coronel Donald Davis, "It's amazing to see the sacrifice of these men and women that have gone through so much, what he said about faith in our country, and our corps, and our community, it means the world to me as a marine, that's what I want."

This year's National POW/MIA recognition day is September 21st.
