ALBANY --
One local organization not only works to improve the lives of parents but their children as well.

The Family Literacy Connection is offered to parents who did not receive their high school diploma and want to further their education while making an example for their children.

"We are trying to break the cycle with the parents and the children so that the parents learn how to support their child's education, how to give them the things they need so that the children will be successful in school,” said Executive Director, Sandy Bamford.

The program is tailored to each student’s needs and 85% of graduates continue their education in college.

To be considered for the program, you must be a parent over the age of 16 who displays a serious commitment towards getting a GED. To apply for the program, visit the Family Literacy Connection online.
