ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County Commission welcomed Thronateeska Heritage Center's Executive Director Tommy Gregors, during a meeting Monday morning.

Gregors updated the commission on where the center is at with their historic train restoration which is funded by the SPLOST VI referendum.

"We're currently in the SPLOST VI Referendum and we just like to go over and keep them updated on the progress that we're making and the investment that they're making here in our community and in Thronateeska and what the results of that are,” said Gregors.

The center was given $140,000 to finish restoring the full-size railroad cars.

Gregors says having this completed will be a good attraction for the community because it not only has local ties but there are many train enthusiasts in the world who will travel to see restored railroad cars like this.

Gregors adds he hopes it will be completed within the next 12 months.
