ALBANY, GA. --

As Tropical Storm Isaac passes over the Dominican Republic locals are wondering if it's heading to southwest Georgia.

Weather experts say it's too early to tell exactly which direction the storm will take, but there is a chance that southwest Georgia will be affected.

In this case, emergency management officials have begun storm preps and they ask that residents also be prepared.

“We ask them to think about putting together a survival kit. If we lose power for a period of time, you're going to need water, you're going to need food, you're going to need flashlights, you’re going to need things that you will need to survive during that period of time until things get back to normal,” says Jim Vaught, Albany Dougherty EMA Director.

He says a NOAA radio is a good tool to have for weather updates and people should also consider getting signed up for Code Red so that they'll get alerts during severe weather events.
