ALBANY, GA. --

Southwest Georgia’s jobless rate saw an uptick in July.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, southwest Georgia’s unemployment rate rose to 10 percent last month.

That's up from 9.7 percent in June.

Georgia's jobless rate for the month of July was set at 9.3 percent, up three points from June.

Officials say the rate increase comes after layoffs in the manufacturing, trade, and transportation sector.
