COLQUITT COUNTY, GA --
A high school band director has been arrested and charged for having a sexual relationship with a student, police say.
Thursday afternoon, investigators with the Moultrie Police Department confirmed that Colquitt County High School band director Paul Guilbeau was arrested on a charge of sexual assault of a student.
According to police, Guilbeau is accused of having consensual sex with a 17-year-old student and that the relationship was said to have evolved over several weeks.
The incident in question did not take place on school property according to investigators.
Police say Guilbeau was new to the area and only in his second year employment with the school.
