ALBANY, GA -- The Georgia Lottery got a bit more interesting Wednesday as the "Powerball" surged to $320 million dollars.

Residents all throughout Southwest Georgia rushed to their nearest convenience store to purchase a ticket, something Woodall's Employee, Cindy Harris, says is not uncommon.

"We've had a lot of people purchasing lottery tickets, which always happens when the number gets real high," said Harris.

Officials with the Lottery say sales pick up during the evening hours on the night of a drawing, which happens to be tonight at 11:00 PM.
