LEE COUNTY, GA --
In our Facebook Story of the Day, you wanted to know what
Common Core Georgia Performance Standards are being taught this year?

Lee County School System teachers met at Lee County high school this afternoon to go over the new learning methods.

The biggest changes are in math and English or language arts and focus more on the student's application of the lessons.

"The new standards it's more about what the students are doing to show us that they know the curriculum. It's not so much about what the teacher is doing or the teacher imparting the knowledge," said LCSS Curriculum Director, Gail Melvin.

Melvin says these standards ensure students across the nation will be held to the same standards and aren't just memorizing and repeating information.
