ALBANY, GA --

Save-A-Lot food stores are racking up the miles in their Fuel Your Family Road Trip. The 2,000 mile east coast trip will make stops in 18 cities educating families on healthy eating and donating to local charities along the way.

Their most recent stop was here in Albany, to present The S
econd Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia, with a $1,000 donation, which their executive director, Jim Case, says will go to good use, "Well the money that they're going to donate to us is going to be used for our kid’s cafe program, which we serve over 40 sites, in a 30 county area feeding over 2,000 kids a day."

The kid’s cafe also provides kids with after school tutoring in a safe environment.

Another reason for the road trip is to promote healthy eating amongst the youth.

They're doing that by playing games with the kids and reminding them to eat bright and colorful produce instead of junk food.

Prior to arriving in Albany the Fuel your family road trip was in Valdosta where they made a $2,500 donation to Second Harvest.

From here they’ll head up north making various stops before arriving in Albany, NY on August 25th.
