ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Transit System shuttles upwards of 90,000 people a month around Albany.
In the Facebook story of the day you wanted to know how safe is the Albany Transit System.
The transit system has multiple procedures in place to deal with a verity of situations, for instance if there is an unruly passenger onboard the bus operator first tries to handle it themselves
If that doesn't work, Albany Transit Director, David Hamilton, says "they'll radio into dispatch, and at that time dispatch will call the road supervisor and dispense them out, and they would get there and try to diffuse the situation, and if that doesn’t work we'll get the police involved."
Disorderly passenger are not a common occurrence, but their are cameras on the busses to monitor a situation if one should arise. There's also a similar set of guidelines in place in case of an accident.
Passengers have even been known to be an extra set of eyes for the driver. Hamilton, says "We have some passengers who look out for the operators, if there are passengers out there that they feel need to abide by some rules or quite down, they'll tell them."
If a passenger really want to help insure a safe ride, it's important to keep distractions to a minimum, so the driver can focus.
