ALBANY, GA --

The topic of today’s town hall meeting was diabetes, a disease that affects over 25 million Americans.

Certified diabetes educator,Heather O'Connor, was on hand to inform the public about the disease and to answer any questions they had.

A lot of myths were debunked at the meeting including ones about living with the disease,
O'Connor said,"People with diabetes can have just as healthy lives as people who do not have diabetes, if they manage their blood sugars. That’s what’s key, is those blood sugars, and how to manage it..."

O’Connor then went on to say it’s important to get tested for diabetes because a lot of the symptoms go unnoticed.
