ALBANY, GA -- 16 students graduated from the Goodwill of Southern Rivers Summer Enrichment Program Thursday morning during a small ceremony. The students completed a 6-8 week course at the Albany Workforce Training Center which focuses on providing hands-on training to those with disabilities.
"They need to learn the hands-on training as well as life-skills training and various things of that nature to be able to have the skills needed to transfer into the competitive market," said Training Center Manager, Sondra Hampton. Hampton says the program allows students with disabilities to enter the workforce with the tools necessary to hold jobs in a variety of departments from business to custodial. It didn't take long for one graduate to reach his goal - Perseus Lewis was offered a part-time position at Goodwill only moments after receiving his diploma. Lewis graciously accepted.
